The Town of Elloree has a large variety of businesses, and we work hard to promote and support our local merchants.

Shop Elloree First
The Town encourages our local residents to support local merchants through our “Shop Elloree First” campaign. We advertise monthly in The Elloree Dispatch and provide “Shop Elloree First” bumper stickers to all of our Town Hall visitors.

Sidewalk Sales
Our downtown merchants recently started holding sidewalks on the third Saturday of each month. During the sidewalk sales, stores offer special sales and discounts, and outside vendors have the opportunity to set up on the sidewalks.

Commerce Forums
The Town hosts a commerce forum on the 1st Tuesday of January, March, May, July, September, and November at 6:30pm in the Town Hall courtroom. These meetings are open to the public and business owners. They are designed to provide an open forum for discussion and ideas for promotion of area businesses and town events.

Business License
To conduct business within the corporate limits of the Town of Elloree, you must hold a valid town business license. This applies to both businesses located here in town and businesses that conduct any operations within the town limits, including independent contractors. Business licenses are valid for one year and may be obtained/renewed at Town Hall. To apply for a business license, please visit Clerk Chasity Canaday at Town Hall. Peddler License
A peddler’s license may be obtained from the Town to allow for vendors who conduct business periodically within town. This license is available at a cost of $100.00 per year and will be
prorated if purchased after the beginning of the business license year. This license may be procured at Town Hall.

Yard Sales
The Town’s yard sale ordinance allows each household to hold two yard sales per year with no fee and two additional yard sales per year that require a Yard Sale Permit. Yard Sale permits are good for one day and are available at Town Hall at a cost of $5.00.

Farmers Market
The Town recently started a Farmers Market to encourage area farmers and local artisans to sell their goods in town. The Market is located at the juncture of downtown Cleveland Street and Railroad Avenue and is held each Saturday morning from 8:00am to 1:00pm. Vendor spaces are available at no charge, and tents are provided on a first come, first serve basis.

Business

Our featured business this month is the award-winning Elloree Heritage Museum and Cultural Center. The Museum boasts numerous exhibits and a gift shop with regional products and books. Tour groups are welcome, and numerous special events, including a lecture series, book signings, and day camps for children are held throughout the year.

The Museum recently hosted the Tri-County Regional Chamber of Commerce Business After Hours in February and the Orangeburg County Chamber of Commerce Business After Hours in June.

The Museum is open Wednesday through Saturday from 10:00am to 5:00pm, and tours may be made by appointment. The Museum is located at 2714 Cleveland Street and may be contacted at (803) 897-2225. Visit them on the web at www.elloreemuseum.org.
