Streets & ParksThe Town of Elloree is lucky to have a thriving Streets and Parks department. Our two S and P workers are brothers Jimmy and Willie Kinley, who were recently featured in the Elloree Dispatch. The Town works to preserve and enhance the beauty of our community by cleaning the streets and maintaining our town parks.
Loyns Park, located just inside town limits on Highway 6, is a beautiful nature park. Visitors there can admire the abundant foliage and flowers while relaxing on park benches or strolling across the boardwalk bridge. Residents and visitors may also enjoy a meal under the picnic shelter or partake of a refreshing drink from the natural spring that pumps out cool, fresh water. The town is fortunate to have the assistance of the Evergreen Garden Club in ensuring that the park is beautiful year-round. The Garden Club was also instrumental in bringing a Blue Star Memorial to the park, where it sits for visitors to admire.
Joe Miller Park, located at the juncture of Harlin Street and Highway 6, is a recreational park that offers something for every visitor. Enjoy a tennis match on our lighted courts or a brisk walk on our walking trail, or relax on a swing under our beautiful gazebo. Bring a picnic to savor under the E.E. Gasque Shelter,
which can also be rented for birthday parties and other events. The
Old Elloree Gym is also available for rentals. The Elloree Garden Club works with the Joe Miller Park Committee to provide recreational facilities for the residents of Elloree and to our visitors. The two worked together to unveil the town’s second Blue Star Memorial, which may be viewed at the front entrance to the park. Joe Miller Park is also the site of the Town’s annual Pork Fest, a barbeque cook-off held each April and sponsored by the South Carolina Barbeque Association.
The town is currently working on a third park facility, located on
Harlin Street near Joe Miller Park. The new facility will include
multiple ball fields for baseball and softball. It is the Town’s
goal to provide first class recreational facilities for both our
residents and visitors. |
